NEWSLETTER Sept. 7, 2020
Good afternoon CSA friends,
We hope everyone has enjoyed a lovely Labor Day holiday together with family and/or friends this week-end! Thankfully the weather has cooperated.
After this week we have 7 weeks left in CSA. The time is just flying by seems to me.
We love seeing everyone on our delivery days! On Fridays when John and I do home deliveries, we also enjoy seeing you when you’re outside in your yards, and we are just amazed at how pretty your yards and flowers are this summer! Someone has put a lot of love into making their yards so pretty!
We ask our home delivery customers to continue keeping the coolers clean and ready to receive your CSA share.
This week we will add half pecks of okra and jalapeños to the online country store. These boxes hold about 2 quarts. If you’d like to order to have these delivered with your CSA share next week, order before Sunday night. That’s the cutoff time to order.
What’s in the box this week? Okra, onion, cucumbers, tomatoes, summer squash, sweet potatoes, apples (Mutsu, aka Crispin).
Recipe of the week: Georgia Cracker Salad
In a large Serving bowl:
Crush 1 sleeve Saltine crackers in small chunks, 1Boiled egg chopped finely, 2 diced fresh tomatoes, 4 or 5 scallions very thinly sliced (white and green part), 1/2 to 3/4 cup mayo, salt and pepper to taste. Mix well, serve immediately on a lettuce leaf. So good. So quick and easy!
Have a great week!
