GREETINGS FROM THE FARM!
What a gorgeous autumn day-we hope you are enjoying it as much as we are here at the farm.
We will be delivering this afternoon to Huntsville and Madison, and we look forward to seeing you today. Don’t forget to pick up your CSA share.
CSA News: After this week, we only have 3 weeks of deliveries left. Last week was the last delivery of the Fruit shares until spring. Sweet potatoes are curing now for holding over for a few months once the CSA season ends. Store them at room temperatures. Watch the Home Page on our website to order. They will be delivered the last two weeks of our season.
What’s in the box this week? (Some, but not all of the following will be in your shares this week)
Sweet potatoes, green beans, onion, cucumbers, summer squash, broccoli, bell peppers, Dixie Red Apples,Tomatoes, Eggplant and Cabbage this week!
Cabbage is very versatile, roast it, grill cabbage steaks, fry it, ferment it (sauerkraut or kimchi), bake in casseroles, add it last minute to vegetable soup, make cabbage rolls, or use it in a stir fry!
If you want a good old southern style dinner, just fry up some cabbage, cook some pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, make a big green salad and a skillet of cornbread, brew a pot of sweet iced tea and enjoy! Don’t worry about the calories this one time, just eat and enjoy. Cut back on your next meal and walk a bit further on your next walk!
Stay safe, stay well friends.
