Newsletter May 4, 2021

Good morning CSA members!

We anticipated our first CSA deliveries would begin next week but lo and behold, we will have to postpone our first deliveries, same as we did last year. John tells me that some of the crops are at the stage of needing to be a bit more mature to harvest, so as of now by just by putting the harvesting off for a week, it looks as though the 3rd week in May should work out as a better start date. We are at the mercy of nature right now.  We strive each year to have a nice box of veggies and fruit for everyone to kick off the first delivery of the season, but some years we are taught a lesson in patience. This is one of those years.

Please read your Weekly Newsletter right here in this spot every week, to see  “What’s in the Box” this week. We will also toss in a few tips, which we hope will help you make the most of your weekly share. If you have a favorite recipe from a website, send us the link if you would like to share it with everyone in CSA and we will pass it along. Only criteria is that it’s easy to make, doesn’t take a lot of time, includes veggies or fruit  and is delicious.

We will be updating our Pick-Up locations page and pick up times most likely this weekend. The pick up times at most places should not vary much if any. At least that’s our plan.  For Workplace location pick up times, please check with your Coordinator.

You will receive Emails from us before the season begins with contact information for your Site Coordinators at each delivery location. Keep their numbers handy. You will also get information on what to do if this or that happens, etc.  These emails will come from drf@hughes.net (Doe Run Farms)  Add drf@hughes.net to your safe senders email list.

We look forward to seeing you soon with vans loaded with home grown food!

Peace,

Judy

NEWS JAN. 29, 2021

Good day CSA friends,

You can go online now to register. Just click on the Red “Shop Now” button to sign up.

Deliveries begin the second week in May, but Neighborhood delivery locations depend on having enough participants at each location. The sooner you register, the earlier we can let you know if your choice of a pick up location will be Active this season, so register today if you can.

CSA prices remain the same again this year except for the add-on shares, which only increased slightly.

We have 3 Share Sizes + we have add on’s as well which are always popular.

We continue to offer our members a vacation option for travel during the season. Read through the website carefully, especially the FAQ page, so you can become familiar with how our CSA operates. Our website together with the newsletters posted on the website should answer most questions you may have about the CSA.

Please Note: Before registering for a Home Delivery, please contact the farm to see if your home is within our delivery area. Delivery boundaries will differ somewhat from last summer.

Due to the Public Health crisis, we will continue to observe the CDC guidelines both on and off the farm for your protection and ours. We plan on carrying out the same routine as we did last summer at our pick up locations and we hope that it worked out well for you. It seems like the sensible thing to do again this year.

Check back here often for more news and information. We plan on having a wonderful season for you this year. Have a great week, and stay well!
