Good afternoon CSA friends,
It’s time to fire up the pot of boiling water and cook some sweet corn. It’s in season and it’s good too! Here is a link to a website with all kinds of delicious ways to cook sweet corn! This week I put up a bunch of corn in the freezer using my Food Saver. It’s an old model but I love it. I put several ears in large bags for when I want to enjoy some creamed corn and only a couple of ears to a bag when I wanted it for our dinner to have “on the cob”.
Here’s What’s in the box this week! (at least a good guesstimate). Eggplant, Cucumbers, Bell Peppers, Sweet Corn, Bulb Onions, Yellow Squash & Zucchini, Banana Peppers, Tomatoes. (We do have to substitute items occasionally)
In the next week or two, I will post in the online newsletter which is right here on our website, what we will have available to purchase from the online country store in amounts that will be great for canning, freezing, dehydrating or just cooking for a big crowd of visitors! Just check the website often for an announcement on the website home page. Don’t forget to place you order before Sunday evenings though to have country store items delivered with your next CSA share.
Please continue to wear your mask to pick up your shares. The Covid virus and the Delta variant is circulating within the communities and hospitalizations are on the increase. Tennessee and Alabama are two of the states who have low vaccination rates, so protect yourself and those in your community.
