Updates August 21, 2023

Good Monday evening!

Here is a listing of what we plan to deliver in your CSA shares this week:  green beans, cucumbers, Delicata squash, onion, Yukon Gold potatoes, okra, zucchini, and eggplant.  Marconi (red) Banana (orange) and Poblano (dark green) Caution: If you have children, warn them that some peppers may be too hot for them to sample.  It’s never easy to tell which ones are hot and which are not.  Historically, Marconi and Banana peppers are mild, but this doesn’t hold true in every situation.

The Combo this week is Fruit – Gala apples.  Time for a good old apple pie!

Here’s a link to a quick and easy green bean recipe that you may enjoy.  (It isn’t highly seasoned).

Don’t forget to pick up your share this week!  Have a lovely week everyone!

Aug.8 Updates

CSA friends,

We hope you are having a good week! Time is certainly marching on isn’t it? Soon it will be Labor Day and autumn will be arriving-a beautiful season of the year for sure.

Sorry that todays “what’s in my box” is running behind schedule. Our middle child and oldest Son and our Grandson from Virginia, came for a very short visit and I simply got behind on things around here. So without more delay, here is what’s coming your way!

Poblano peppers (sure hope you are freezing some to use later). Banana peppers for some,  though we didn’t have enough harvested for everyone to have them. (We took them as far as they would go.)  Summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes and green beans. Super box this week and we hope you enjoy everything in it. We so appreciate the support you give our farms.

Check your Email inbox for a Newsletter sent out from the farm today, but please don’t forget to check your spam folder or trash folder too.  We shared a delicious recipe for Cream of Poblano soup in your newsletter today.  Give it a try.

What’s in our shares this week?  (This is what we hope to have for you, though we sometimes must substitute if we run out of something)

Eggplant, cucumbers, bell peppers, small cantaloupes, sweet corn, okra, summer squash, poblano peppers, tomatoes, banana peppers, Yukon gold potatoes.  Combo share this week: Tomatoes.  Fruit share this week: Peaches.

Tip:  If you love fried eggplant, try cutting it into cubes, dip it in your batter then fry – vs. cutting it into wedges or slices.
